The history of the Auberge des 21

The growth of La Baie in the eighties quickly led to a growing demand for quality accommodation, giving rise to Auberge des 21. Boasting an exceptional location on the banks of the Saguenay Fjord and right in the heart of downtown, it has quickly become a must-see tourist attraction in the Saguenay Lac Saint-Jean region.

In its early days, the inn offered 20 rooms. Since then, it has undergone a remarkable expansion, with the addition of a further 11 rooms and the creation of new facilities to enrich the visitor experience. The superb Salle Boréale, available to hire for events and conferences, as well as the Salle Café du Fjord, where a delicious continental breakfast is served daily, and the magnificent Terrasse des Ha!Ha! for aperitifs, reflect the inn’s diversified offering.

The inn has also opened the Le Coin des Souvenirs boutique. The dining room, meanwhile, has been enlarged to become a renowned gourmet restaurant, renowned for its culinary excellence. This room also boasts an exceptional wine cellar, completing the gastronomic experience offered to guests.

At the end of 2022, Auberge des 21 begins its transition to an ecological approach, guided by a dedicated team. Gradually, she is taking a series of small steps that, while discreet, carry with them a forward-looking vision.

Looking to the future, the inn plans to revitalize its rooms to optimize the customer experience and offer optimum comfort, while engaging in responsible, environmentally-friendly initiatives. At the same time, with the well-being of its guests in mind, it plans to integrate a workout room as well as an area dedicated to reading and relaxation.
